Altra brings power, motion and control to SPS 2022

Held at the Nürnberg Messe, SPS showcases the latest industrial automation technologies. Altra will demonstrate its expertise with the motionCONNECT IIoT solution, which connects its brand’s heavy-duty clutches, couplings and brakes on a unified, common cloud platform. SPS visitors will get the chance to see how the new solution optimizes equipment maintenance and promotes uptime.

Bauer Gear Motor

As a geared motor expert, Bauer will be holding a live demonstration of its highly efficient permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive technology showing how easy it is to improve overall efficiency by 10% or more. PMSM technology also features in Bauer’s hygienic HiflexDRIVE. The stainless steel variant is designed for the rigours of washdown environments in the food and beverage industry, its exterior ensuring resistance to mechanical impacts. Bauer also offers customised drive solutions, ideal for the varied needs of the automation sector.

Huco

Huco has forged a reputation providing precision couplings for automation, medical and laboratory applications. Couplings highlighted on stand will include torsionally stiff bellows, flexible jaw, zero backlash multibeam and vibration absorbing TB Wood’s Dura-Flex® designs. Beyond its proven standard range, Huco offers a dynamic customisation service, ensuring that machine builders have access to specialised solutions for specific applications. With its large production capacity, Huco has the ability to deliver varying quantities of customised precision couplings on reduced lead times.

Portescap

With its miniature motors and motion accessories, Portescap overcomes the challenges of automation and industrial power tool applications. Designs feature high torque, reduced weight, high speed, rapid acceleration, and low operating temperatures. New products include compact, power dense 32ECF and 20ECF brushless DC slotted flat motors, which deliver speeds up to 10,000 rpm in diameters as small as 20 mm. Its latest cost-optimized design, the 12ECP48 Ultra EC brushless slotless motor, unlocks downsizing opportunities for handheld devices. Performance is rated at 23W of continuous power at 40,000 rpm, with up to 8.1mNm of maximum continuous torque.

Stromag

Brakes and limit switches will be Stromag’s focus at SPS this year. The compact, spring-applied HPB brake, available in either 2-face or 4-face configuration, will be on stand for viewing. Delivering a torque range from 80 to 5000 Nm in the smallest possible size – it’s a popular selection for industrial, winch and hoist applications. Various configurations of the highly accurate, 74:1 gear ratio Series 51 limit switch, including the Smart Cam® encoder equipped version, and the compact, economic Light Cam® model, will also be on display.

Thomson Linear

Learn how Thomson electric linear actuators can replace pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders. As well as eliminating pipework, Thomson actuators are more cost-effective and offer high levels of control for automation applications. High-load ball screws will be on stand too, available in a wide range of sizes and featuring a maximum dynamic load capacity of up to 1,440 kN. Combining an extended service life and high performance in application, these ball-screws can reliably move twice the load of a standard ball screw.

Warner Electric

At the very forefront of electric powertrains, Warner Electric will be focus on its market-leading, compact motor brakes. First up is the versatile, preassembled ERX range, which are available in standard, high-torque or high-speed specifications to meet varied stopping or parking requirements. Next, the SMB is an incredibly precise servo-motor brake, a popular selection for medical devices, robots, scanners and more. Completing the selection, the XSB provides braking performance in a package smaller than competitors, making it an optimal design for robotics applications.
