ECS secures key position in Natural Resources Wales' MEICA framework

Now appointed as the second-place contractor in North Wales, ECS is set to bring its extensive experience from similar frameworks in England to NRW’s operations. This partnership underscores ECS’s capability to deliver high standards, support, and innovation in MEICA services, promoting sustainable maintenance and enhancement of Wales’ natural resources.

Natural Resources Wales is the largest Welsh Government sponsored body, responsible for the management and protection of Wales’ natural resources. With nearly 2,500 staff, NRW aims to ensure that the environment and natural resources of Wales are sustainably maintained, enhanced, and used, benefitting current and future generations.

To ensure the highest level of efficiency and oversight, ECS will appoint a nominated Framework Manager dedicated to overseeing and running the MEICA Framework. This role is pivotal in maintaining clear communication channels, ensuring project deliverables meet NRW’s stringent quality standards, and fostering a collaborative environment between ECS, NRW, and all other stakeholders. The Framework Manager’s expertise and leadership will be instrumental in steering the initiative towards achieving its goals, emphasising ECS’s proactive approach to management.

The new MEICA Framework with NRW involves a comprehensive range of services, including routine maintenance, emergency callouts, and minor improvement works across operational assets in North and South Wales. The framework, divided into two geographical lots, ensures that ECS will contribute to the sustainably management, enhancement, and utilisation of Wales’ natural resources.

The MEICA Framework is set for a period of two years, starting April 2024, with options for extension, subject to periodic reviews, satisfactory performance, and agreed costs. This strategic partnership between ECS and NRW promises to set new benchmarks in the maintenance and enhancement of Wales’ natural resources through innovative engineering solutions.
