Engineering a safe place to work
Sulzer has a strong global commitment to achieving an optimum working environment, where operators’ health and safety is a top priority. As part of improving awareness for this subject the company celebrates significant milestones for individual service centers; the latest being the Cuautitlan Izcalli Service Center, in Mexico, which has completed another full year with no lost time incidents (LTI).
Cuautitlan Izcalli Service Center’s LTI record of 365 days without having any employee losing time due to an accident in the workplace is the result of safe work practices and behaviors adopted by all employees working on site. The maintenance, repair, upgrade and servicing of large pumps as well as other rotating equipment comes with many inherent challenges. Despite that, Sulzer’s cooperative mindset, combined with rigorous safety checks, audits and constant evaluations of potential hazards, is providing an excellent working environment.
Thanks to its key strategies, Cuautitlan Izcalli Service Center offers a setting where employees can work safely and efficiently. Even more, the year-long LTI milestone, which equates to thousands of man hours, also helped to maximize the company’s round-the-clock customer support and responsiveness.
The achievement was marked with a Townhall celebration at the site, during which Flavio Romero, Head of RES PS AME Operations at Sulzer, congratulated the staff for their cooperation and support. This was followed by a presentation by Sulzer’s RES Director in Mexico, Sixto Torres, who gave an overview of the business and its performance.
Flavio Romero commented: “I am extremely proud of all the employees at Sulzer’s Cuautitlan Izcalli Service Center. This LTI record is testament to the diligence and care of our teams as well as their dedication to supporting their colleagues by maintaining an outstanding health and safety record. At the core of our safety culture is a cross-disciplinary and collaborative environment, where employees receive the appropriate training to operate safely and efficiently, something we heavily invest in.”
Sixto Torres concluded: “We value our staff immensely. This is why their safety and wellbeing is our top priority. The 365 days with no lost time incidents are indicative of a successful, longstanding safety record, as we continue to refine our practices. I look forward to celebrating more anniversaries”
