Keeping up with the crossovers

30th January 2023
Love them or hate them, crossovers are the latest automotive success story. Following in the illustrious footsteps of SUVs, MPVs and hatchbacks in the popular consciousness of UK motorists – one brand stands above all in this segment: Nissan. While the origin of modern crossovers can arguably be dated back to Toyota’s RAV4, many would point to the ubiquitous Qashqai as the first time they noticed a crossover out in the wild.

Due to its sales success, the Nissan Qashqai is a model that Klarius Products, one of Europe’s largest exhaust manufacturers, has provided OEM quality replacements for throughout its lifecycle, supporting motorists nationwide.

Modern crash regulations, high SUV-style driving positions and plus size hatchback dimensions have seen crossovers explode in popularity. The Qashqai was one of the key catalysts for this when it launched back in 2006. As of December 2022, over 511,000 Qashqai’s are estimated to be on Britain’s roads, constituting more than 1.5% of the UK car parc(1). It has claimed the crown as the nation’s best-selling new car numerous times. Consequently, Klarius Products has developed a range of replacement exhausts for the Qashqai to keep owner’s vehicles on the road.

Doug Bentley, Head of Research and Development at Klarius, has been busy: “We always aim to support the most popular vehicles on the road with aftermarket exhausts. We develop our products to OEM performance levels – a fact that is recognised by Nissan Manufacturing UK (NMUK). In fact, we produce original equipment supply (OES) exhausts for the Nissan Value Advantage range in Europe, which enables Qashqai owners to specify replacements that meet Nissan quality standards.”

Klarius offers exhausts to fit petrol and diesel 1.2, 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 Qashqai models from 2006 to 2022, all available with a 2-year standard warranty and a Fit First Time guarantee. Building on this exceptional coverage, the business will continue to develop new replacement exhausts for newer models, ready for when owners need to carry out repairs.

“We test exhausts in-house on vehicles of correct make, model and production year. Where applicable, we get products type-approved with the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) and the TÜV. This means an OEM quality replacement offering miles of happy motoring,” adds Doug.

The crossover craze isn’t set to die down anytime soon, and with new models of the Qashqai and Juke entering the market, these hugely popular cars will form a sizable chunk of the UK car parc for many years to come. Even the most reliable car will eventually need a replacement exhaust at some point, and with crossovers covering plenty of miles, its useful to know who offers quality parts when the time comes.

“The way we keep up with crossovers is by developing products in-house to meet market demand. We stay on top of the latest automotive trends, so when our customers face the reality of a Qashqai exhaust replacement, we’re ready to help,” Doug concludes.
