Reliability that digs deep

6th July 2022
Sulzer to showcase innovative solutions at Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition

Sulzer has announced its attendance at the Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition (QME) 2022, taking place July 19 – 21 at the Mackay Showground. Visitors will have a chance to view Sulzer’s innovative products and services for the full range of mining applications on Stand A704.

QME gathers leaders in the Australian mining sector to exhibit new innovations and services. This year, Sulzer’s Flow Equipment and Services divisions will be joining forces to show how they can secure uptime, productivity and increased sustainability across metal processing and mining applications. Local Sulzer experts will be ready on stand to discuss customer challenges and recommend optimized, efficient solutions

Flow Equipment

As a global original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and world leader in pump technology, Sulzer provides a comprehensive portfolio of innovative pumps and agitators for mine water management, minerals, and metals processing. As well as a proven standard range, tailored solutions are available to meet challenging processes with corrosive, abrasive, slurry or clear liquids. To demonstrate this, Flow Equipment will display an EMW heavy duty slurry pump and a submersible drainage pump on stand during the event.

Innovative, optimized pump designs provide the utmost efficiency for operators, with lower energy consumption reducing operational costs and carbon footprint. Advanced materials technology ensures exceptional durability and reliability in operation. This unlocks extended service intervals and maximizes pump uptime. Furthermore, wireless condition monitoring systems deliver actionable analytics and inform preventative maintenance, which is supported by experienced Sulzer experts.

Services

Providing localized services across Australia from its service center network, Sulzer delivers highly responsive in-house and on-site engineering support to keep critical equipment in metal and mining applications running reliably and efficiently.

Rotating equipment is fully supported, including wheel motors, drive motors, pumps, generators, gearboxes, coils and more. A comprehensive retrofit service for pumps from all brands is available, providing a cost-effective route to enhancing efficiency and reliability while reducing carbon footprint and energy costs. These best-in-class services are supported by advanced 3D scanning, additive manufacturing, and reverse engineering capabilities.

Mining-specific services offered by Sulzer include a reconditioned exchange program for electrical rotables from electric drive haul trucks. Sulzer offers refurbished, ready-to-go wheel motors, alternators and grid blowers to fit Komatsu 830E-AC and Terex MT4400-AC 240T trucks. Operators can therefore immediately swap failing assemblies for renewed items, minimizing downtime.

Sulzer’s facilities are approved to carry out hazardous location motor rebuilds from underground coal mining sites too. Sulzer services teams can refurbish motors off continuous miners, shuttle cars, feeder breakers, conveyor systems, longwall and shearers, pumps including flameproof submersibles, pump skids and ventilation units – reducing downtime and ensuring production continuity.

Stand highlights

One of Sulzer’s advantages to operators of critical rotating equipment in the metal and mining sectors is its coil manufacturing service. A coil exhibit will be on stand during the show, illustrating this capability. Other highlights will include a miniature steam turbine model, with Sulzer offering a comprehensive range of services for these installations. This will be joined by a spare parts showcase, which will show Sulzer’s exceptional reverse engineering and part manufacturing capabilities.

Additionally, Sulzer is holding a technical giveaway. By leaving a business card, attendees will be entered into a draw for a seat on the acclaimed Sulzer Academy for Pump and systems’ pump packages and components online training course. This is an engaging refresher or introduction to pumps that explains how to secure safe, cost-effective and reliable operations.
