Sulzer’s new PyroCon technology rapidly cools the gases emitted during pyrolysis, a process that heats and liquefies plastic without oxygen, limiting harmful pollutants. The resulting pyrolysis oil can be used as a fuel or refined to produce valuable chemicals.

Sulzer’s technology has been selected by Emirates Biotech for its upcoming Polylactic Acid (PLA) production plant in the United Arab Emirates. The facility will be constructed in two phases, each with an annual capacity of 80,000 tonnes, resulting in a total production capacity of 160,000 tonnes per annum. Once completed, it will be the largest PLA production facility in the world.

Sulzer is proud to announce the global launch of VoltaSplit, its new electrified distillation solution that significantly enhances energy efficiency while enabling the reduction of direct CO₂ emissions. Relying on electricity in lieu of traditional energy-intensive steam boilers, VoltaSplit reduces the direct CO2 emissions of distillation units by up to 90%. This in turn enables process industries to meet regulatory requirements, improve operational performance and reduce their long-term environmental impact.
