Sulzer expands presence in Denmark

29th April 2021

Latest multi-discipline facility will offer advanced repair services and new equipment sales

Sulzer has broken ground on a new service center in Denmark that will provide its full range of product sales and maintenance services throughout the region, all from under one roof. The new facility will join Sulzer’s global network of service centers that work together to deliver local support backed by worldwide expertise.

Expanding the company’s presence in Denmark, which goes back to 1968; Sulzer’s new facility will offer the complete range of maintenance and repair services to improve efficiency, sustainability and cost-effectiveness for customers. The purpose-built 1’728 m2 service center will be a focal point for all customers in the region, including those offshore. Located in Middelfart, centrally near to Fredericia, the facility will become part of Sulzer’s global network that provides a close and supportive relationship with customers.

Ove Fjordmand, Manager of Sulzer Denmark, explains: “We use our combined skills and expertise to deliver the best solution for our customers in terms of efficiency, sustainability and cost-effectiveness. We have built a strong partnership with many customers in the wastewater sector in just 10 years and now we will have the facilities to widen our horizons. We believe that the whole of our collective knowledge and industry expertise is greater than the sum of its parts. Together with the wider Sulzer network, we will be able to deliver a comprehensive range of solutions to all the major industrial sectors including oil and gas, water and wastewater, chemical processing, as well as pulp and paper.”

Advanced repair technology

The new facility will have 1’300 m¬¬¬¬2 of workshop space, which will be shared with LaserCladding Nordic, a company that has worked closely with Sulzer for the past two years. Together, they offer considerable expertise for rebuilding and refurbishing important components such as rotor shafts.

Laser welding technology offers low temperature repairs as well as the ability to apply high strength coatings to improve equipment durability. Having shared technologies onsite will offer customers several advantages, including a faster project delivery.

Knud Skafte, Service Manager for Sulzer Denmark, “Our new service center is designed to optimize workflow and ensure that we offer fast turnarounds and an efficient service to all our customers.”

Field service expertise

The new service center will offer maintenance services for a vast array of products both in the workshop and on customers’ sites. Field service engineers are especially important in supporting the offshore market as well as large pieces of equipment that have to be maintained on-site.

Knud continues: “Over the coming months we will be overseeing the construction of the service center as well as starting the process of employing and training additional engineers. For new team members, we will be looking for experience with pumps and the repair of rotating equipment as well as the willingness to learn new skills and a passion for engineering.”
